Veraison is when grapes change colour.

The word names the stage in ripening when green berries begin to turn red or purple. Here it is in three photographs of grapes on the vine.

Green, unripe wine grapes hanging in the sun on a vine
Before veraison
A cluster of grapes with green berries starting to turn purple
Early veraison
Wine grapes that have turned deep red and purple on the vine
